Education is the Key to Success:
Earn an accredited online bachelor degree

The days of being able to survive on “what you can do” rather than on what you know, are over. During the great industrial age, employers were more concerned about a new hiree's skills and experience than they were about whether or not the individual arrived with proof of a degree in hand. On the job training was often an option, and those who were mechanically inclined or could learn a job quickly could usually find work. Today the quickest way to land a good job is to be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of education. You can take care of this requirement through a myriad of online education programs.

Five out of every ten jobs are in the social work or health care fields. That doesn't mean you have to choose those fields to be successful, but they all require a bachelor’s degree as a minimum in order to be hired. With the appropriate degree, it is relatively easy to find work in these fields.

Another career choice that will provide job security and that has plenty of opportunity is education. You can teach in a public or private school system, operate a day care facility, or work in the office as an administrative assistant.

Many individuals who do not wish to be in health care or education pursue some type of business degree. A business degree is probably the most flexible of all degrees as it allows you to specialize in the type of business you are interested in as well as the specific aspect of business from actually managing a business to the behind the scenes work in computer networking, marketing, accounting or any of the thousands of business activities.

It is possible to begin your career with only an associate’s degree in some fields. An LPN, for example may only have a two year degree. Also, some fields such as cosmetology, industrial occupations (for example, welding), accounting, paralegal, secretarial work, teachers aids, police officer jobs and others have job openings for those with only two years of college education. However, those who want career advancement soon find that additional education will be necessary.

We live in a different era. High school teachers often hear students who simply dislike studying, writing, and taking tests say things like “my dad didn't even finish high school and he makes plenty of money. What’s good enough for him is good enough for me.”  That sentiment will give you a life in a convenience store or fast-food restaurant, although even those places often require at least a high school diploma nowadays. People who want to make real money find out very quickly that we are in an age of information and technology—stuff that is very difficult to learn “on the job,” and for which you need a background of education in the most current principles and practices of your preferred career.

Finding the right school
Fortunately, even if you have waited until several years after high school to begin your college education, finding the school and the program that interests you is easy. You may not be able to drop everything and attend a college, but you can get almost any education you want through online study. The internet approach makes your education convenient because you can take your classes from home—or anywhere that you have access to the internet. It also saves money, not in tuition, necessarily, but in the cost of room and board or in the cost of commuting. In some cases, you may save on tuition as well because some schools charge by the semester rather than by the course; during the prescribed time period, you can take as many classes as you want with no extra charge.

Funding your education
All of the student aid grant and loan programs that would be available to a campus student are also available to those who study on line, providing your degree is coming from a creditable institution. Use our convenient resources to locate the institution with the program and funding capability that meets your needs.
