Earn Your Electrical Engineering Degree via Online, Distance Learning
Engineers are creators, people who think out of the box to make or modify all of the things that society enjoys. Everything from the most complex highway interchange that keeps traffic moving quickly and safely to the clever, educational baby toys was dreamed up, developed or improved upon by an engineer.

There are many engineering specialties, but one type of engineer that is needed in combination with many of the others engineers is the electrical engineer. Sometimes referred to as “sparkies,” it is the job of the electrical engineers to design the electrical elements of a machine, motor, building, toy, or appliance. Oddly enough, the engineer himself often develops the design on paper—or on a computer, while an electrical technician actually does the work of installation. However, the electrical engineer usually gets paid much more than the electrical technician.
You can earn your electrical engineering degree online at one of our associated universities. Thanks to the convenience of computer software, you are able to not only complete the textbook work, but also to complete hands-on projects from the convenience of your own home. You can earn an associate degree in electrical engineering, a bachelor of science, master of science or even a doctoral degree, depending on the type of career you want. Those with doctoral degrees usually work in a university or in the research facilities of a corporation. A person with a master’s degree will be more specialized than one with a bachelor degree.
Financial aid for your degree program is available just as it is for a campus student. Most TAP and PELL grants are for students earning their first degree, so if you are seeking a graduate degree, you will probably have to apply for student loans unless you have the cash for the tuition yourself.
Job security for electrical engineers is better than for many other types of engineers simply because existing equipment needs upgrading and improved even in days of a struggling economy. Engineers often work as independent contractors, thereby bidding on jobs they want and commanding high salaries. A good electrical engineer is not usually out of work for long.
How much do Electrical Engineers make?
An electrical engineer can earn a salary ranging anywhere from $75,000 to $115,000 depending on experience, level of education and geographic area. Salary is also impacted by licensure which, although not required by law, is required by many states and governmental agencies. Generally the university where you earn your degree will also provide you with information regarding licensing exams in your state.
