Computer Aided Design
(CAD) / Architectural Drafting
Computer Aided Design
or CAD is about using computer programs and systems to develop two
and three-dimensional models of products and other designs. Architects,
civil engineers, land developers, interior designers and other professional
designers use CAD in their daily work, as do engineers working on
the creation of automobiles, industrial systems, and other projects.

Crime
Scene Investigators use CAD in analyzing rooms and other places
where crimes took place. CAD systems are even becoming available
for home computers so that people can use them when they remodel
or redecorate their homes or gardens.
AutoCAD® is a full set of popular Computer Aided Design software
products created and sold by Autodesk. Autodesk has also developed
very specific applications such as AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical,
and Autodesk Map 3D. They have "desktop" ones for specific
disciplines, i.e., Architectural Desktop.
Computer Aided Design
is often taught within degree programs in interior design, architectural
drafting and other engineering design curricula.
